New Media Helping Writers Get Published

New Media Helping Writers Get Published
By Matt Fleming

Stay at home mums, teenagers, lazy people and even children are finding it easier and easier to get published these days. But why? What can they do now that they couldn’t before? The answer… The Internet. The Internet has provided EVERYONE with the tools, knowledge and connections needed to become published writers or artists or what ever it is they are trying to get published in. there are many sites that provide a writing community were writers can show their work and publishers can read it and decide “That’s pretty good” and then publish it. Some sites like Writing.com and webook.com are probably the most used. They allow you to show your work, then people can read it and back it for publication and than someone can choose to publish it. It’s really just a community and talent scouts pick off all the good bits and get them published. How ever there are other sites like The World’s Longest Book that offer both a community and a 100% chance of getting published. The World’s Longest Book is a site dedicated to creating a book over 344mm thick. You can submit not only writing, but pictures and drawings and photographs, really anything that could go into a book. The site has an active community and is updated regularly. No robots run the site and everything is over seen by at least three real people. The World’s Longest Book only publishes your work under your name so, sorry, but you don’t get payed. They will however give you royalties if you submit enough pages to the book.

Regardless of age, gender, race, religion or education the Internet can almost defiantly get you published in some way shape or form. As long as you have a passion and continue to do what you love, you will almost defiantly get published. Sometimes it doesn’t even cost you to get something published! In the old days you had to pay for an editor, publicist, graphic designer and then the rights to be published under the name of your publisher (Puffin, Scholastic, Collins) and than if your book doesn’t sell… you loose money you didn’t have in the first place. On the Net though people go looking for talent and when they find it they want to themselves so the pay for all that for you, or, they sponsor you so now you have money to pay for all of that.

All in all if you have talent, don’t stress. If you don’t have time to write lots then click here, and if you don’t have talent then write lots and lots until you build up confidence and join a writing community (Click either of the two links previous in this article)

Happy Publishing!
